1. Apologies  Gaynor Richards, Patrick Richards, Dave Slatcher and Mike Pitchford

2. Minutes of Meeting of 4th July 2022 were approved.

3. Treasurer’s Report. MP not present but advised in advance that the Balance was £.1567.44.

4. To consider progress in regard to following main issues

a. Progress with gaining SC Planning Application Consultee status for all four parishes. RS had checked that our email address was working and reported this to SC. RS waiting for the SC officer to confirm when she was available to assist the registration. ACTION: RS will continue to follow up with SC.

b. ADCS Annual Calendar Project.. RS reported that these businesses had agreed to sell the calendars on our behalf with the full price coming to the Society:-  Emporium Card Shop, Hewitt’s Butchers, Village Hardware Shop, Bit-of-a Do, and the Beauty Box.

[Post Meeting Note. Subsequently Dit-of-a-Do advised they were closing and could not sell the calendars. PW gained agreement that the Library will sell them. RS took 10 calendars and envelopes and the cash box to Clare Turner who was very happy to sell them for us]

RS said he had discussed with DS the possible Notelets and DS had received a costing for 250 No. packs of six Notelets with A6 envelopes and an A6 card showing all six designs and we could add a title on the card such as  “Notelets by Albrighton & District Civic Society” or similar. Printer included in his cost 500 No. cellophane envelopes for us to pack the Notelets. RS tabled rough mock-ups of some Notelets with photos of all four parishes, all portrait orientation as printer said cost is lower for a hinge on the long side. [RS gave these to DS after the meeting]. At the previous meeting it was felt that this project was a little different from the calendar and that we should sell them to the shop(s) and allow the shop(s) to add their mark up. MP had sent two comments – a) before placing the order should we check that some shops will be prepared to sell them and b) why is the Society selling Notelets? The meeting felt that they promoted our district and also the Society. PW wondered if we can call them something other than “Notelets” which may be seen as old fashioned – perhaps “Cards – add your own message”? We need to decide at the September meeting if we go ahead (or not) and then they will be ready for us to sell at the AGM on 10th October.

c  Fayre Day (9th July)

PW reported that the fayre day went well and we had a good number of subscriptions renewed and the plant sales went well. Thanks to those committee members who worked hard on the day. Albrighton Primary Scholl came to the stall to be awarded the Strawford Cup. St Mary’s did not come to collect the runners up Shield as they could not find our stall. Presentation of Certificates and the Cup and Shield will be made at the AGM

d. The email from Mrs Lowe regarding the need to remove weeds at junction of Station Rd/A41 etc had already been sent by PW to Cllr Nigel Lumby with a request that he asks SC to deal with it. PI reported that APC had added this to the list of actions for Graham Downes SC to deal with.

f. Public Meeting and AGM 10th October.

Discussion of possible topics and speakers:-

Proposed development at Cross Road - Taylor Wimpey

White Acres development – Shropshire Homes

Procedure for the combining parishes – SC speaker

It was felt that one of these topics was enough to avoid a long meeting

ACTION: PW and RS will follow up.

5. Matters arising

a. Repairs to Cross Road RS reported that he had written as Chairman of the Cross Road Traffic Group, which was set up by APC and negotiated directly with SC for the traffic calming scheme. RS had emailed Steve Smith, Assistant Director of Infrastructure, to ask i) what work was proposed ii) why the part from the Sheilings to A464 was not included and iii) SC to confirm that all the features of the traffic calming scheme including the white lines would be reinstated exactly as the original scheme.  No answer had been received so he would now write to the SC Chief Executive, Andy Begley, and the SC Leader, Lezley Picton, with the email and also complain that he was now being ignored.
